CHARITABLE OHIO

Nonprofit Transactions, Probate & Court Proceedings

The attorney general has long been responsible for protecting charitable assets. As a result, the Charitable Law Section is involved in many different types of court proceedings and transactions.

Below are the various transaction and probate situations that require some type of notification to the Ohio Attorney General’s Charitable Law Section. Engaging in discussions with the office early can help ensure that the transaction or probate process goes smoothly. While not all situations require notification to the attorney general, all board members and trustees should learn more about their legal duties and responsibilities by taking advantage of the attorney general’s training and resources. For more information, visit the Resources for Nonprofit Board Members page.

If you have questions about any of the following situations, you should contact the Charitable Law Section at 614-466-3181. You can also email transaction questions to CharitableTransactions@OhioAGO.gov and probate questions to CharitableProbate@OhioAGO.gov.
